Navy looks to modernize procurement system

The Navy is planning for an electronic procurement system that will use commercial software to replace the Navy’s current procurement systems.

A request for information was released on the Navy SPAWAR ecommerce site in December, but was unintentionally not posted on FBO.gov, according to the Navy.

Deltek has estimated that the contract would be worth $250 million. This is a new contract, so there is no incumbent.

Basically, the Navy wants to replace the Standard Procurement System it uses now for writing and managing contracts. The new system will need to support 10,000 users world-wide. It also will have to interface with financial management and other reporting systems.

In responses to the RFI, the Navy is looking for feedback on its draft schedule, deployment, training metrics and hosting options.
